This position is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations (GTIO) - Restaurant Network Products (RNP) team, where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide best-in-class foundational technology products and services, with a core focus on the restaurant network globally.
Reporting to the Sr. Technical Product Manager, the Network Engineer will be responsible for monitoring network performance, identifying and resolving network issues, and implementing network security measures to protect the organization's data and systems.
Ideal Candidate should possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on investigative techniques. As a subject matter expert in Juniper and Meraki network solutions, the candidate will design and deploy innovative network solutions that enhance performance, durability, cost-effectiveness, and security. The candidate must also excel at managing stakeholder expectations and resolving conflicts, demonstrating the ability to thrive in agile environments while delivering exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:- Develop, manage, and implement network infrastructure supporting restaurant operations, including point-of-sale systems and other critical applications.
- Manage and maintain network hardware such as routers, access points, switches, and firewalls.
- Troubleshoot, test, implement, design, deploy, and maintain network configurations and traffic flows.
- Collaborate and strategize with fellow engineers to apply best practices and develop solutions leveraging the latest network technologies.
- Drive proof of concepts and conduct feasibility studies for business requirements.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and propose their application in current and future projects.
- Communicate project health, risks, and issues effectively to stakeholders and management.
- Identify and manage changes through proper review mechanisms.
- Work effectively in an agile environment.
- Provide urgent support and troubleshooting outside regular hours as needed.
- Routing and switching technologies supporting large networks with hundreds of sites.
- Meraki and Juniper L2 & 3 switch installation, administration, and management.
- Configuration and management of Meraki and Juniper security appliances.
- Management of Meraki and Juniper wireless solutions and access points.
- Proficiency with Meraki Dashboard and Juniper Mist Dashboard, including configuration templates.
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VTP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, and VPN design.
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Palo Alto Prisma (cloud-based version).
