Overview
The Associate Environmental Specialist\’s role involves understanding environmental risks and general environmental compliance and is responsible for utilizing existing Environment procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team.
Responsibilities
- Have a working knowledge of company and project-specific Environmental terms, requirements, and project deliverables.
- Conversant with local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations.
- Ensure Environmental plans, procedures, and instructions are implemented.
- Understand and monitor controls of environmental-related risks (e.g., aspects and impacts, ENVID) and other risk reviews.
- Become familiar with the Site\’s environmental legal and risk registers, conduct compliance tasks, and track corrective actions.
- Assist in Environmental Prequalification of project subcontractors and vendors as applicable.
- Assist with preparing and participating in conducting HSE / Environmental audits and inspections.
- Participate in risk assessments and risk registries maintenance.
- Prepare and maintain Environmental Activity Plans.
- Prepare Environmental performance reports as directed and submit relevant reports to the HSES / Environmental Functional Lead.
- Participate in Environmental training needs analysis and assist in environmental training development.
- Provide Environmental input into look-ahead plans and reports based on the project schedule.
- Conduct regular site or facility environmental inspections and reviews.
- Competent in data collection, verification, retention, and organization for reporting and audit readiness.
- Participate in environmental investigations following incidents and or non-compliance.
- Assist with ensuring corrective actions and recommendations are acted upon.
- Provide support for report completion.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor\’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or related degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field.
- Three – four (3-4) years of relevant Industry experience.
- Experience with technical activities, including onshore and offshore operations.
- Maintain key competencies associated with the Environmental function.
- Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.
- Familiarized with local and international Environmental laws, codes, regulations, and norms.
- Statistical and data analysis ability.
- Experienced in ISO standards (9001, 14001, or 45001) preferred.
- Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements related to the scope of work that includes monitoring compliance.
- Teamwork and collaborative skills.
- Preferred knowledge of RegScan, Intelex, FigBytes, and PowerBI platforms.
