Job Overview:
The Senior Manager of Quality Operations is tasked with developing departmental plans, including business, production, and organizational priorities. The role requires multi-disciplinary expertise and the ability to understand the industry to achieve financial and operational objectives. The Senior Manager of Quality Operations manages multiple related teams, sets organizational priorities, and allocates the appropriate resources. They must identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems. The Senior Manager of Quality Operations directly impacts business results by supporting function-specific projects, products, services, and technologies and developing policies and plans.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the tools, processes, procedures, and systems for welding and NDE operations are maintained and globally implemented.
- Support the strategic vision of the Company’s welding program globally and NDE program in fabrication yards.
- Ensure that competent resources are maintained in all area operations for welding/NDE.
- Oversee maintenance and implementation of the Global QC Inspection Platform.
- Interface with the Supply chain as required on quality matters regarding vendors/subcontractors.
- Ensure that global documentation for the Quality Function within the management system is maintained.
- Support areas with problems regarding welding, NDE, and vendor quality issues as required.
- Develop and maintain Global Quality Control Fabrication and Construction Weld Inspection Platform.
- Maintain contacts with internal welding engineering functions and external technical groups such as ASTM, DNV, EWI.
- Oversee the quality of vendors and subcontractors regarding pre-qualification and performance recommendations.
- Liaise with Area Management for vendor and subcontractor technical issues.
- Support Quality Assurance oversight through reviews, audits, and surveillance as requested.
- Conduct and assess Root Cause investigations and compile reports.
- Communicate welding/NDE lessons learned across the organization and incorporate learning into the Management System and processes.
- Maintain critical competencies associated with the Quality function.
- Become familiar with all company and project specific Quality terms, requirements, and project deliverables.
- Identify applicable regulatory requirements specific to the scope of work, including monitoring compliance.
- Ensure Quality plans, procedures, and instructions are developed and implemented.
- Identify and assign appropriate Quality resources and development.
- Prepare and maintain the Project Risk Register, Corrective Action Tracking, and Non-conformances.
- Prequalify project subcontractors and vendors as applicable.
- Prepare project audit plans and conduct audits.
- Prepare and maintain Project Quality Activity Plans.
- Prepare Quality performance reports and submission of same to the Functional Lead.
- Initiate training needs analysis and coordinate the implementation.
- Provide SME support to the company QHSES training department to include development and delivery.
- Develop and oversee plans to meet project objectives, targets, and goals aligned to the area.
- Lead or participate as SME in Incident Investigations and reporting.
- Provide input into a look ahead plans and reports based on the project schedule.
- Provide input to MOCs and Lessons Learned.
- Review/Approve subcontractors and vendors for equipment and services.
- Conduct regular site or facility reviews.
- Manage Nonconformance reporting, including corrective actions and actions to prevent a recurrence.
- Attend and provide input to forums such as kick-off meetings, constructability reviews, readiness reviews, etc.
- Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures.
- Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or equivalent experience/certification.
- 15+ years within the Energy Industry through all phases of EPCI project delivery.
- Extensive functional, industry, and leadership expertise.
- Professional Membership in relevant institutions.
- Ability to work as a team member as well as act as a team leader.
- Have wide experience with technical activities related to the area of operation.
- Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.
- Be conversant with local and international laws, codes, regulations, and norms.
- Proficient with multiple Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word.
