Due to continued growth, the Group is looking for an experienced Group Assistant Accountant to support the finance team across its multiple companies.
Reporting to the Group Financial Officer and working within a finance team of five, this role requires strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage financial processes efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-company environment.
The successful candidate will receive broad exposure across a dynamic multi-entity business, and clear opportunities for career progression through working closely with the Group Financial Officer.

- Office-based, Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to
- Oversee accounts payable & receivable, ensuring timely processing across multiple businesses
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations and intercompany transactions, and assist with the preparation of VAT returns
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliation s in line with m onth-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and the processing of journal entries, including accruals and prepayments
- Maintain financial records, assist with audits, and liaise with external accountants
- Create and maintain accounting procedures with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement
- Work closely with management to improve financial reporting and processes
- Work alongside the Group Financial Officer to support and develop the finance team, while remaining hands‑on and covering transactional accounting duties when required
- Proven experience in an accounting/finance role, ideally within a multi-company or automotive environment
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT, and financial reporting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS and data analysis, together with proficiency in accounting software. Experience with Sage 50, Sage 200, Sage Payroll and Salesforce would be advantageous but is not essential
- Excellent organi s ational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- AAT qualification (Level 3/4) or equivalent; working towards ACCA/CIMA is a plus
