We are seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Manager (part time) to lead our human resources department. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of HR operations, including employee relations and organisational development. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent management and communication skills, capable of fostering a positive workplace environment. You will lead all people activity and partner closely with senior leadership to shape our company culture. You’ll be responsible for ensuring legal compliance while delivering a first-class employee experience in a fast-paced environment. This is a dual-impact role, combining strategic HR advice with hands-on office management.
Key Responsibilities- Employee Relations: Act as the primary advisor for managers on disciplinaries, grievances, and absence management, fostering a fair and supportive work environment.
- Policy & Compliance: Maintain the employee handbook and ensure all practices remain fully compliant with UK employment law (e.g., GDPR, Equality Act).
- Payroll & Benefits: Oversee or directly process monthly payroll and manage company benefit schemes, including pensions and private healthcare.
- Strategic Support: Advise the leadership team on workforce planning, talent strategy, and organisational changes such as restructures.
- Training & Development: Proactively identify skill gaps and coordinate internal or external training programs to support professional growth.
- Office Management: Oversee daily office operations, facilities, and health & safety compliance to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
- Experience: Typically 3–5+ years in a generalist HR role, ideally within an SME environment where you have managed multiple priorities.
- Qualifications: CIPD Level 5 or above is essential.
- Knowledge: Deep, up-to-date understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., BreatheHR, PeopleHR) and standard office software.
- Soft Skills: A self-starter who can work independently, build rapport across all levels of the business, and maintain total confidentiality.
