With over 55 years’ experience in the haulage industry, McCulla Ireland are one of the country’s leading providers of Ambient, Chilled and Frozen logistics solutions throughout Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe. We currently have Operating Centres across Northern Ireland and Ireland with further plans for expansion. There is an ever-growing modern fleet consisting of over 120 vehicles and 200 trailers operating our just in time service with sustainability at the forefront of everything we do.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner seeking further progression and development to join our team at Lisburn HQ.
The Person
This role will require an experienced & professional individual with a character to drive the business forward in its vision for further growth and progression within the sector. The successful candidate will have strong ambitions to become a senior leader within our Transport Operations.
Duties About The Role
- Assign customer sales to transport in the most cost effective and efficient way to make a delivery.
- Oversee the deliveries and internal functions of our NI operations, inclusive of groupage and full loads.
- Manage, coach and develop a team of up to 6 people within the operation on a daily basis to ensure standards are met.
- Achieve KPI targets ensuring best utilisation of fleet, drivers, sailings & subcontractors.
- Work closely and support the Operations Manager to drive change & continuous improvement.
- Plan and assign SORs to drivers and confirm booking dates when required.
- Strive to ensure that all delivery requests are met for all customers.
- Maintain driver and customer relationships.
- Create reports and delivery schedules for customers and different departments.
- Liaise and communicate with Customer Services and Sales to identify issues that may affect the agreed delivery time, in order to keep the customer updated.
- Work closely with the Sales team to ensure that accurate order information is obtained before a delivery is scheduled.
- Ensure self‑management of workload and multitask by communicating with customers across different communication platforms.
- Maintain files and records and provide quick accurate information when required.
- Meet targets and deadlines to the required standards and within agreed timeframes.
- Show initiative, act with confidence, and show ability to work under own direction.
- Demonstrate commitment to the company values.
- Ensure good relations and communications with all members of the company and provide excellent customer care in an efficient manner.
- Continue to identify ways in which further improvements to performance and service delivery can be made to our customers.
Criteria
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong geographical knowledge of NI & ROI.
- Minimum of 24 months of experience working in a transport planning role particularly.
- Comfortable communicating with all levels of the business.
- Experience in supervision of a team up to 6 people preferred.
- Experience in communicating with HGV Drivers and knowledge of driver hour regulations.
- Good timekeeping and being able to work in a structured manner adhering to timetable requirements.
- Strong geographical knowledge and route planning experience across the UK & Ireland.
- Problem‑solving ability and process driven.
- Flexible attitude to working hours & shift patterns to support the needs of the business.
- Transport CPC preferred.
Terms
- Full Time, Permanent Role.
- Monday – Friday.
- Rotating 1 weekend in 6.
- Hours of work 8.00am – 6.00pm.
