Transport Administrator

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Working hours: Shift rotating weekly: 6am – 3pm or 12pm – 9pm

Contract type: Maternity cover for 1 year with potential extension

This role involves managing inbound and outbound logistics at the McCormick UK (MUK) Peterborough site. Responsibilities include coordinating vehicle movements (domestic and international), liaising with third-party service providers (e.g., STI, Havi), and internal transport (Chris Hayter Transport). Ensuring compliance with statutory and non-statutory requirements to maintain safe and legal operations is essential.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Manage the Peterborough site Booking Diaries for inbound and outbound movements using existing tools, in collaboration with the MUK Customer Order Solutions team.
  2. Escalate capacity constraints for inbound and outbound movements for discussion with the Distribution Centre (DC) team.
  3. Act as the primary communication link between the DC team and visiting/delivering drivers.
  4. Coordinate ETA management between CHT Transport and the Peterborough site, collaborating with DC teams.
  5. Ensure timely and accurate documentation for dispatch movements (domestic and export).
  6. Book outbound deliveries with CHT transport management.
  7. Manage site consumable and pallet delivery vehicles.
  8. Oversee on-site vehicle movements and parking in collaboration with on-site teams.
  9. Ensure vehicle sealing procedures are correctly followed, record seal information, and document with photographic evidence prior to vehicle departure.
  10. Record dispatch and inbound inventory movements in SAP promptly.
  11. Maintain system-based filing and supporting documentation.
  12. Ensure all documentation is accurate and operational procedures and data transfer comply with McCormick standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in distribution, warehouse administration, or similar roles.
  • Proficiency with transport management systems and SAP.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
