Job Description
Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer
Oxfordshire (Haddenham, Aylesbury)
Shift pattern: double day shift 06.00 -14.00 wk1 / 13.45-22.00 wk2
Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the first level escalation of breakdowns within the factory. Working as part of the shift engineering team ensuring breakdowns are fixed promptly in line with priorities. The breakdowns include mechanical, electrical and controls. The eng ineer is also responsible for the completion of preventative works orders.
MAIN REPSPONSIBILITIES
Health & Safety
- Ensure Site PPE policy and LOTO Procedures are followed.
- Ensure the safe working of engineering function (particulaily in areas of isolation and safe entry)
- Provide safety walk information to Operations Team using existing in house reporting system.
- To make the workplace a safe environment by ensuring:
- All company and legal requirements are met and maintained.
- Safety equipment is properly maintained, checked and recorded.
- Safe working practices are promoted at all times with all checks and job sign-offs completed.
Quality
- To ensure all Quality Management Systems are adhered to and properly documented.
- To ensure Engineering GMP targets are achieved with standards being understood and adhered to by all team members.
- To understand food safety legislation, including HACCP in line with the responsibilities of the role and to ensure that the team's outputs meet these standards.
- To ensure all documentation is clearly completed, filed and available for internal and external auditors.
- To work with Production and Quality teams to improve and develop operating practices which enhance product quality and customer service.
- Ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.
- To assist with the integration of new equipment with the manufacturing, operations and project teams.
Operational
- Multi Skilled- Electrical, Mechanical and Controls.
- Attends Daily Engineering meeting and inputs in terms of safety, quality, and operational KPIs where appropriate
- Covers Senior Shift engineers in DDS meeting in collaboration with operations and quality team
- Ensuring all work in recorded on CMMS ensuring correct parts booked out as appropriate
- Execution of planned maintenance activities with the Engineering team leader
- Ensure the correct spare parts are available and co-ordinate with stores personnel where required.
- Report (written) on shift issues, ensuring successful information transfer to the oncoming shift's Senior Engineer.
- Contractor Control ensure appropriate Risk assessment, LOTO Procedures, Permit procedures are complied with.
- Ensure that PPM schedules and works orders are completed within agreed time frames, ensuring breakdowns are closed out (where necessary), with PPM pro-forma advising on parts required.
- On completion of maintenance work, ensure that equipment is serviceable and runs as expected, in readiness for production.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Time served Engineer - minimum NVQ 3 UK electrical or mechanical (or equivalent).
- Solid experience working in high-volume manufacturing environment (in food or consumer products industry preferably).
- Strong general electrical and/or mechanical engineering skills and knowledge.
- Experience in fault finding.
- An awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLER and COSHH.
- Must be an effective team player
- Must be able to work on own initiative and have ability to highlight continuous Improvement opportunities
- PC literate (Experience using Office 365 suite)
- Must be able to troubleshoot and fault-find within a production facility
- Good written and verbal communication skills ability to effectively communicate with both suppliers and internal customers
- Must be able to accurately interpret schematic diagrams
- Logical thinker and problem solver
- Must possess the energy and drive to get things done
- Have an organised methodology
- Can plan to a specified time scale.
