This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the site's maintenance functions. The role will prioritise workstream activities of the engineering team and is responsible for ensuring all engineering KPIs are met.
Ensure all engineering activities are conducted safely and in compliance with global standards, SSOW, and SOPs. Maintain a safe workplace by meeting all company and legal safety requirements, ensuring safety equipment is properly maintained, checked, and documented, and promoting safe working practices with thorough checks and job sign-offs. Conduct investigations into safety incidents using root cause analysis (RCA) and lead cross-functional teams to close actions promptly.
QualityEnsure adherence to Quality Management Systems and maintain accurate documentation. Achieve Engineering GMP targets by promoting understanding and compliance among team members. Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, including HACCP, and ensure team outputs meet these standards. Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to improve operating practices, enhancing product quality and customer service. Ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental standards. Support the integration of new equipment with manufacturing, operations, and project teams.
Operational PerformanceChair daily engineering meetings to communicate priorities effectively with the shift-based team. Represent the engineering function at site daily performance reviews, taking ownership of actions and delivering results. Attend weekly performance reviews, report on engineering KPIs, and follow through on required actions. Provide Level 1 escalation support for shift-based engineering teams to resolve complex issues. Oversee the site's preventive maintenance plan, ensuring compliance and completion of outstanding work orders. Set and deliver KPIs using factual, measured data, and prepare reports on departmental performance. Provide hands-on support for shift cover during holidays, sickness, or breakdowns. Schedule and execute planned maintenance activities in collaboration with the Reliability Leader and conduct post-maintenance reviews for improvement. Implement the PM pillar and support Autonomous Maintenance initiatives. Manage contractor compliance with risk assessments, LOTO procedures, and permit systems.
Team Leadership and Financial AccountabilityAct as a key member of the factory leadership team, supervising maintenance teams and driving departmental initiatives. Manage maintenance spend within budget, raising purchase orders and ensuring timely receipt of goods. Identify and execute cost-saving projects in line with the site's CCI commitments. Comprehensive knowledge of safety, quality, and food safety standards. Proficiency in maintenance planning and reliability-centred maintenance. Financial management capabilities for budgeting and cost-saving projects. Time served Engineer - minimum HNC mechanical/electrical.
