The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.
The priority for the Quality Engineer is the creation of value and competitive advantage by reducing total cost of Quality through improvement of the quality processes. The Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in improving the performance of internal and external suppliers, working in cross-functional teams to build relationships to ensure the delivery of the highest quality products and components. This position works under both general and specific direction and reports to the Quality Manager (Internal).
Specific Accountabilities:
- Management of quality issues impacting production through to resolution.
- Developing and implementation of Quality procedures, ensuring they are working effectively.
- Manage and analyse data from incoming goods quality inspection, production, handover and PDI processes to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Facilitate regular communication between manufacturing plants and suppliers to resolve supplier quality related issues as required, ensuring appropriate corrective action plans are documented from suppliers to address discrepant materials when they occur.
- Manage supplier quality issues and drive appropriate improvements to meet key performance targets.
- Providing technical guidance on Quality related matters to others within the organization.
- Supply relevant information on Quality issues/rework costs etc. to supply chain management through the non-conforming material processes.
- Approve sample parts through the Sample Disposition process, ensuring new product/scope of supply are managed through the sampling procedure, completely and with the required timescales.
- Ensure feedback to procurement via SD co-ordinator.
- Provide daily direction for Quality Inspectors on production lines and assist with their skills development.
- Responsible for delivering specific Quality department KPIs.
- Support weekly Quality meetings with Production lines and co-ordinate corrective actions with cross functional team ensuring feedback is provided at the relevant quality meetings.
- Focus on continual improvement of MIL processes and publish results to the wider McCloskey team.
- Investigate warranty issues from the Quality council meetings and feedback corrective actions.
- Reports any real or potential safety/health hazard to Supervisor.
- Actively participates in orientation and training programs.
- Conduct daily inspections of immediate work area, maintaining a safe and well organized area for the department and all Technicians.
- Report all accidents, incidents or near misses to Supervisor.
- Observes all legislated H&S regulations as well as established workplace safety procedures.
- Cooperates with the Joint Health & Safety Committee in any Safety Program Review.
- Complete any special projects as required.
- May be assigned to other areas of Operations, based on business or customer requirements.
- Works in compliance with all Administrative, Health & Safety policies and procedures as per legislative requirements and as outlined in Company policies and those specifically required by various clients.
