The Senior Buyer will work closely with the Spare Parts team to ensure the effective and timely supply of parts for the department whilst also taking on projects for improvements for cost saving. This role is the Buying Lead for the Spare Parts Division, and he/she will build close working relationships within the Supply Chain and Spare Parts team. This is a role with great potential for future growth and individual development.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead purchasing activities within Spare Parts Division.
  • Purchase spare parts to meet Parts Division targets including non-production parts and consumables (crusher wears).
  • Identify and take on projects that will improve the daily performance of purchasing procedure.
  • Train new team members on the expected standards and procedures in purchasing.
  • Report to Spare Parts team any concerns in purchasing cycle or potential bottlenecks.
  • Reschedule open purchase orders.
  • Expedite open orders from suppliers.
  • Obtain best pricing for purchased parts to achieve cost savings and expense reduction targets while maintaining full quality priorities.
  • Monitor supplier performance and make improvements when necessary.
  • Liaise with suppliers on forecasts.
  • Working with accounts to approve supplier invoices/queries.
  • Stock and materials management.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Maintain Purchasing function within Spare Parts Division.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with Spare Parts Teams, Suppliers and Supply Chain Teams.
  • Introduce cost saving projects to support Aftermarket Sales Growth.
  • Look for lead time reductions where possible.

Desired education & background:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent including Math and English.
  • At least 5 years experience within a tactical buying team, with industry experience.
  • Strong organizational, planning, research and negotiating skills are required.
  • Strong ability to expedite orders with strong communication (oral/written) skills.
  • Be reliable, take initiative, and be able to work in a fast moving environment.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office.
