We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Planning Apprentice to join our Planning team based in Ringwood. This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience within one of the UK's leading retirement living developers while studying towards a Level 4 Town Planning Assistant Apprenticeship.
As part of the apprenticeship programme, you will combine structured academic learning with hands-on experience, developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to build a successful career in town planning. You’ll work alongside experienced planning professionals, supporting a variety of projects that help deliver high-quality developments and sustainable communities across the UK.
You will be naturally curious, organised, and eager to learn. Whether researching planning policies, supporting planning applications, attending site visits, or helping to assess development opportunities, you’ll gain exposure to the full planning process while developing valuable professional skills. You will have strong communication skills, enjoy working collaboratively, and be comfortable managing your time effectively as you balance workplace responsibilities with your apprenticeship studies.
This role would suit a school leaver, college leaver, or someone looking to start a career in planning, property, development, or the built environment. Above all, we’re looking for someone with enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in shaping places and communities.

As a Planning Apprentice, you will:
- Assist with reviewing local and national planning policy documents and guidance.
- Support the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
- Assist in drafting planning statements and supporting documentation.
- Carry out planning research, analysis, and information gathering.
- Support site appraisals, development assessments, and feasibility studies.
- Help maintain planning application records, databases, and project trackers.
- Assist with communication and liaison with local planning authorities, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Attend site visits, planning meetings, and consultation events where appropriate.
- Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the Planning team.
- Develop a strong understanding of the planning system, development process, and the role planning plays in creating successful communities.
