At McCarthy Stone, we create beautifully designed, well-managed homes that enable people to live independently for longer. With over 560 developments nationwide, our estate is at the heart of everything we do – and we are now looking for an exceptional Head of Asset Management to lead its long-term performance, quality and value.

This is a senior, influential role with real impact: shaping strategy, setting standards and ensuring our buildings are compliant, efficient and fit for purpose from day one – and for decades to come.

The Opportunity

As Head of Asset Management, you will be the organisational lead for asset management strategy across the McCarthy Stone estate. You’ll provide clear strategic leadership on lifecycle planning, maintenance standards, asset intelligence and investment prioritisation, ensuring our assets deliver long-term value for both our customers and the business. A core focus of the role is the successful acceptance of new developments into management. Working closely with Construction, Property Operations and Commercial colleagues, you’ll ensure every new development is compliant, maintainable, operationally efficient and fully ready for occupation at handover. You’ll also play a key role in the ongoing evolution of our asset and facilities management approach, strengthening customer experience, asset longevity and value for money.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Develop and own the asset management strategy for a national residential portfolio
  • Embed best practice in lifecycle planning, condition management and whole-life costing
  • Lead asset management input into new developments and oversee handover and acceptance
  • Set clear asset standards and maintenance strategies, providing assurance on repairs and FM outcomes
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex or high-risk asset and technical issues
  • Ensure asset strategies support statutory compliance, working closely with fire safety and compliance teams
  • Provide commercial oversight of suppliers and contracts in partnership with Procurement
  • Lead the development of robust asset data, systems and performance insight
  • Inspire, develop and lead a high-performing Asset Management Team
  • Provide clear, evidence-based insight to Senior Leadership Team and Board forums
  • Deputise for the Property Operations Director when required

About You

You’ll be a senior asset or property professional with a strong track record in asset management, maintenance and lifecycle planning, ideally within a complex or regulated environment. You’ll bring:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience
  • Chartered status (or working towards) such as MRICS, CIWFM or MCIOB
  • Experience of accepting new developments into operational management
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary and technical teams
  • Strong commercial acumen and value-for-money mindset
  • Confidence engaging and influencing at senior and executive level
  • A collaborative, pragmatic approach with a clear focus on customer outcomes

Above all, you’ll be outcomes-focused, resilient and customer-centric, with the credibility and presence to lead at a senior level and the curiosity to continually improve how we manage and care for our estate.

Why Join McCarthy Stone?

You’ll be joining a purpose-driven organisation where the quality, safety and longevity of our homes really matter. This role offers genuine influence, senior-level visibility and the opportunity to shape the long-term performance of a national residential portfolio, supported by a collaborative culture and a strong commitment to professional development. If you’re passionate about asset quality, customer experience and long-term value, and you’re ready to lead at scale, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help shape the future of our homes.
