Shift Electrical Technician – West Sussex £45,000 to £55,000 + benefits | 4 on / 4 off (Days & Nights)

If you’re an electrically biased engineer who enjoys fault finding, keeping plant running and actually fixing problems (not just patching them up) — this one’s worth a look. This is a busy, hands-on environment where no two shifts are the same.

The Role

  • You’ll be part of a shift engineering team responsible for keeping a large-scale automated site running efficiently.
  • Reacting to breakdowns and getting systems back online quickly.
  • Carrying out PPMs properly and improving plant reliability.
  • Fault finding across a wide range of electrical systems.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the site.

You’ll be working on:

  • Sensors, relays, contactors, AC/DC motors.
  • MCC panels and control systems.
  • PLCs (Siemens S7 ideal, but not essential).
  • Instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow etc.).

It’s proper engineering — not just ticking boxes.

What You’ll Need

  • Electrical qualification (HNC or equivalent).
  • Strong fault-finding skills.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, automated or similar environments.
  • Confident reading electrical drawings.
  • PLC knowledge is a bonus, not a must.

Shift Pattern

  • 4 on / 4 off.
  • 2 days (06:30 – 18:30).
  • 2 nights (18:30 – 06:30).
  • 4 days off.

Good work/life balance with proper downtime between rotations.

Package

  • £45,000 - £55,000.
  • Pension.
  • Life cover.
  • Retail, leisure and travel discounts.
  • Ongoing training and development.

Why This Role?

This is a chance to get stuck into a technically varied site where you’ll actually make an impact — not just keep things ticking over. If you’ve worked as an Electrical Engineer, Maintenance Electrician, Shift Engineer or similar — you’ll slot straight in.
