We're looking for a Credit Controller to join a growing and successful business where you'll play an important role across the finance function. As a Credit Controller, you'll be trusted to manage your own workload, improve processes where you see opportunities and become a valued member of a supportive finance team.
What you'll be doing
- Managing customer accounts and chasing outstanding payments by phone and email
- Monitoring aged debt and ensuring customers remain within agreed payment terms
- Building strong relationships with customers to resolve payment queries quickly and professionally
- Reviewing customer accounts, highlighting potential risks and escalating where appropriate
- Working closely with colleagues across the business to improve cash collection and reduce overdue debt
- Processing high volumes of purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
- Matching, batching, coding and reconciling supplier invoices
- Resolving supplier queries and ensuring invoices are processed within agreed timescales
- Reconciling supplier statements and assisting with payment runs
- Supporting month-end activities and maintaining accurate financial records
Supporting the Finance Team
- Assisting with reconciliations and general finance administration
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working
- Providing support across the wider finance team as required
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in Credit Control, Sales Ledger, Accounts Receivable or Purchase Ledger
- Experience across both credit control and purchase ledger would be advantageous, although we're happy to consider someone looking to broaden their experience
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build relationships and pick up the phone
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to investigate and resolve queries
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using finance systems
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work well as part of a team
