What you'll be doing

  • Managing customer accounts and chasing outstanding payments by phone and email
  • Monitoring aged debt and ensuring customers remain within agreed payment terms
  • Building strong relationships with customers to resolve payment queries quickly and professionally
  • Reviewing customer accounts, highlighting potential risks and escalating where appropriate
  • Working closely with colleagues across the business to improve cash collection and reduce overdue debt
  • Processing high volumes of purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Matching, batching, coding and reconciling supplier invoices
  • Resolving supplier queries and ensuring invoices are processed within agreed timescales
  • Reconciling supplier statements and assisting with payment runs
  • Supporting month-end activities and maintaining accurate financial records

Supporting the Finance Team

  • Assisting with reconciliations and general finance administration
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working
  • Providing support across the wider finance team as required

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in Credit Control, Sales Ledger, Accounts Receivable or Purchase Ledger
  • Experience across both credit control and purchase ledger would be advantageous, although we're happy to consider someone looking to broaden their experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build relationships and pick up the phone
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to investigate and resolve queries
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using finance systems
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work well as part of a team

What's in it for you?

  • Salary up to £35,000 per annum
  • A varied Credit Controller role with exposure to both credit control and purchase ledger
  • Opportunity to take ownership and make a genuine impact within the finance team
  • Supportive, collaborative working environment
