Are you an experienced site leader with a background in waste, quarrying, earthworks or heavy plant environments? We’re supporting a well-established organisation in recruiting a Site Manager – Waste Operations to take full ownership of day-to-day operations at a permitted waste site delivering a large-scale land restoration programme. The site operates under an environmental permit and involves the controlled acceptance and placement of construction waste as part of a structured restoration scheme, including tipping activities in variable ground conditions.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience within waste operations, quarrying, earthworks, landfill or similar heavy plant environments
- A strong understanding of environmental permits, H&S legislation and site compliance
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to motivate, coach and develop site teams
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to adapt to changing site demands
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities
- Confidence producing site-based documentation, reports and compliance records
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing daily waste operations and site restoration activities, including safe and controlled tipping operations
- Leading, managing and developing a team of plant operators and site staff
- Planning workloads, allocating resources and ensuring operational targets are achieved
- Ensuring all plant and machinery is operated safely and maintained in line with defect reporting procedures
- Maintaining strict compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
- Producing and managing site documentation including costs, timesheets, purchase orders, compliance checks and productivity reports
- Delivering toolbox talks, briefings, 1-to-1s and performance discussions
- Maintaining site infrastructure, housekeeping standards and security
- Liaising with internal teams, contractors and visitors to ensure smooth and safe site operations
- Preparing and implementing risk assessments and method statements, ensuring correct PPE usage at all times
- Supporting long-term site planning and adapting operations as the restoration programme progresses
