Shift: 4 on, 4 off – 2 days / 2 nights

The Opportunity

We’re recruiting for a Shift Engineering Supervisor to join a busy, fast-paced processing operation in Enfield.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll take responsibility for a shift engineering team, ensuring plant and machinery are running safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.

You’ll still be heavily involved technically – supporting breakdowns, fault finding and repairs – while also coordinating your team, prioritising workloads and driving improvements across the site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and supervise a team of multi-skilled engineers and contractors
  • Prioritise planned and reactive maintenance across the shift
  • Carry out hands‑on fault finding, diagnostics and repairs
  • Support preventative maintenance and minimise plant downtime
  • Work across mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Support Root Cause Analysis following breakdowns and recurring faults
  • Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance
  • Allocate workloads and ensure engineering priorities are delivered
  • Coach and develop engineers within the team
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system
  • Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Deliver effective shift handovers and communicate engineering issues clearly

What We’re Looking For

You’ll ideally be an experienced Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Team Leader or Lead Engineer from a fast-paced industrial environment.

You’ll need:

  • HNC in Mechanical or Plant Engineering
  • Previous experience leading or supervising an engineering/maintenance team
  • Strong mechanical fault finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Welding experienceExperience delivering planned and reactive maintenance
  • The ability to remain hands‑on while leading a team
  • Confidence prioritising engineering activity in a busy operational environment
  • Experience within waste, recycling, manufacturing, processing, aggregates, quarrying or another heavy industrial environment would be particularly relevant
