Are you an experienced operational leader with a background in quarrying, earthworks, or heavy plant environments? We are supporting a well-established organisation in recruiting a Site Manager to take ownership of day-to-day operations at a busy quarry undertaking both extraction activities and restoration phases involving tipping in wet and soft conditions (mud tipping).
This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a team of approximately 10 plant operators, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations are delivered every day.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience within quarrying, earthworks, landfill, or similar heavy plant operations
- Strong understanding of regulatory permits, H&S legislation and environmental compliance
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to adapt to changing site demands
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple operational priorities
- Confidence producing site-based documentation, reports and compliance records
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing daily extraction operations and managing the restoration programme, including safe tipping activities in soft/unstable ground conditions
- Leading, managing and developing a team of plant operators
- Planning workloads, allocating resources and ensuring operational targets are met
- Ensuring all plant and machinery is operated safely and maintained in line with defect reporting procedures
- Upholding strict compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
- Producing and managing site documentation including costs, time sheets, purchase orders, compliance checks and productivity reports
- Conducting toolbox talks, briefings, 1-2-1s and performance discussions
- Maintaining site infrastructure, housekeeping standards and security
- Liaising with internal teams, contractors and visitors to ensure smooth and safe site operations
- Delivering risk assessments, method statements and ensuring correct PPE usage at all times
- Supporting long-term site planning and adapting to operational changes as required
