We are recruiting a CAD & 3D Modelling Designer to support the delivery of specialist golf course construction and landshaping projects across the UK. This is a contractor-side technical role focused on producing buildable earthworks designs and survey-ready 3D terrain models, not just traditional 2D drawings. You will be directly involved in turning high-level design concepts into practical, construction-ready information used on live projects.
Working closely with golf course architects, engineers, surveyors and site teams, you will help create:
- Accurate 3D earthworks models
- Survey-grade setting-out data for machine control
- Planning and presentation drawings
- Fully coordinated construction information that works in real-world conditions
This is a rare opportunity to see your technical work come to life on high-profile golf course developments across the country.
The Role
As a CAD & 3D Modelling Designer, you will play a key role in translating design intent into deliverable construction information.
Earthworks Design & 3D Modelling
- Produce detailed 3D earthworks models for golf course projects
- Model greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and shaping areas
- Generate accurate cut and fill volumes and surface comparisons
- Create survey-ready 3D models and GPS machine control data
- Update models to reflect site conditions and approved design changes
CAD Drawings & Visual Outputs
- Produce high-quality 2D drawings using AutoCAD for planning, tender and construction packs
- Create layout plans, sections, profiles and level drawings
- Maintain drawing registers and revision control in line with QA procedures
Coordination & Construction Support
- Work closely with architects to convert design concepts into buildable models
- Liaise with surveyors, site managers, engineers and machine operators
- Support technical queries, RFIs and on-site problem-solving
- Produce as-built models and updated construction information
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support Principal Contractor duties under CDM 2015
- Ensure designs consider safe construction sequencing and access
- Follow company QA, environmental and H&S requirements
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience producing earthworks designs and 3D models for construction projects
- Strong working knowledge of LSS, Civil 3D, or similar civil modelling software
- Understanding of earthworks, levels, tolerances and construction methodology
- Ability to generate accurate volumes and survey-grade 3D outputs
- Practical, construction-minded approach with strong problem-solving skills
Important: Experience using AutoCAD alone is not sufficient; this role requires hands-on civil/earthworks modelling expertise.
Desirable Experience
- Previous involvement in golf course or landscape construction projects
- Experience with GPS machine control workflows
- Producing drawings and models for planning submissions
- Regular collaboration with site teams and contractors
- Aware of UK environmental and construction constraints
Whats On Offer
- Salary up to £40,000 per annum
- Permanent, full-time position
- Unique opportunity within a specialist sector
- Direct involvement in high-profile UK projects
- Collaborative role working closely with site and design teams
