In this role you will support the site and Group Energy team to run operations in a compliant and sustainable manner. You’ll drive environmental performance, oversee ISO-aligned systems, and lead initiatives to reduce waste, energy, and water use. You will work with cross-functional teams to embed responsible practices and respond to audits and regulatory findings. This position offers the chance to contribute to tangible sustainability improvements within a large, global food manufacturer.
Pay / Benefits
- Support development and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems and ensure compliance with processes, permits, and regulatory standards.
- Manage and improve environmental and energy systems aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001; facilitate audits, lead incident investigations and corrective actions, coach leaders and SHE representatives.
- Implement resource efficiency initiatives to reduce waste, energy, and water, aligning with global sustainability targets and continuous improvement programs.
- Develop and maintain environmental policies, procedures, and standards for consistent site-wide application.
- Coordinate inspections and address audit findings to ensure positive external audit outcomes.
- Compile and present KPI reports on site environmental performance and trends for informed decision-making.
- Provide environmental input into new equipment installations, process optimizations, and site expansion projects.
- Procure and manage consumables and equipment for environmental safeguarding.
- Contribute to compliance with ESOS, UK ETS, Climate Change Agreements (CCA), and Renewable Obligations.
Tasks
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or closely related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with environmental management systems (ISO 14001/50001) in manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance.
- Proven track record of measurable sustainability improvements.
- Excellent communication and influencing abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Strong analytical skills for data interpretation, reporting, and action recommendations.
