We are now hiring across various positions at our Wombourne plant and this is your chance to be part of something that matters.

About the roles:

  • Shift Engineer (Maintenance)
We're looking for multi-skilled engineers to join our maintenance team. Whether your background is predominantly Mechanical or Electrical, we'll place you on the shift where your skills complement the team best. What matters most is that you're versatile and willing to turn your hand to both disciplines. Day to day, you'll carry out proactive and reactive maintenance, monitor plant systems, identify improvements, and support the wider engineering team. You'll hold a Craft Apprenticeship and City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent), with at least 5 years' experience in a maintenance environment. Strong fault-finding skills are a must and knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems would be a real bonus. Additional skills in fabrication and welding would be an advantage.
  • Charge Hand (Engineering Team Lead)
This role is a bridge between the team and management. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer or senior operator who is ready to take their first step into a formal leadership position. As Charge Hand, you'll support the day-to-day running of the shift, act as the go-to person for your team, coordinate workloads, and help drive standards across safety, quality, and performance. You'll be a confident communicator who leads by example and brings the best out in the people around you.
  • Shift Lead
You will take full accountability for everything that happens on your shift — from safety and quality through to people and cost. You'll manage, motivate, and develop your team, hold shift handovers, and act as the most senior person on site when required. You'll need proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment, a strong understanding of SQDC metrics, and the ability to make confident decisions under pressure. An engineering background or technical understanding is highly advantageous.

Shift Pattern:
4 week plan - including a mix of days and night shifts.

About the team:
You’ll be based at our Wombourne plant in Staffordshire. Together, our small, but perfectly formed team of over 110 colleagues produce our famous potato Smiles as well as our pre-baked Jacket Spuds.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Shift Engineer: A recognised engineering qualification (Craft Apprenticeship / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent), solid hands-on maintenance experience across Mechanical and/or Electrical disciplines, and strong fault-finding skills with the ability to work independently on shift.
  • Charge Hand: Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, with a track record of stepping up and leading others, whether formally or informally. You'll be a confident, hands-on communicator who can keep a team focused and standards high.
  • Shift Lead: Demonstrated people leadership in a manufacturing or FMCG setting, a solid grasp of SQDC performance metrics, and the ability to own a shift end-to-end — making decisions, driving output, and developing your team in equal measure.

Benefits:
Alongside a competitive salary, you'll enjoy a range of benefits including:

  • Paid overtime
  • An excellent salary sacrifice pension scheme where we'll contribute double what you do, up to a maximum of 12% of your salary
  • 25 days' annual leave from day one plus bank holidays (increasing with service), giving you plenty of time to recharge with the opportunity to buy and sell up to 5 days holiday per year
  • Life insurance cover providing peace of mind for you and your family
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Medicash health cash plan, helping you claim money back on everyday healthcare costs, with access to a virtual GP and wellbeing support
  • TELUS Health employee and family assistance programme offering full wellbeing support
  • Salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme
  • A paid 'Chips In' Volunteering Day

And because you're joining a global business, your career opportunities don't stop at the factory gate. Whether you're looking to deepen your expertise, step into leadership, or even explore opportunities internationally, we'll support your growth. With ambitious plans for the future, there's plenty of scope to develop your career with us.
