Overall Purpose: The Potato receiving Team Leader plays a crucial role in manufacturing and supply chain environments, overseeing procurement, quality and the smooth flow of raw materials necessary for efficient production. The role combines leadership, organisational and technical skills to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance with company and industry standards.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities:
- Lead a shift team of multi‑skilled operatives to deliver production targets whilst ensuring all safety, food safety and OEE targets and standards are met.
- Work collaboratively with other stakeholders to ensure the effective running of the operation.
- Work supportively with colleagues to drive continuous improvement through MDI:
- Lead team huddles.
- Support CID routes & Centreline management for your area.
- Conduct safety and food safety coaching conversations and audits.
- Support uptime by taking an active role in the defect handling process.
- Respond pro‑actively to hour‑by‑hour variance to plan abnormality management.
- Coach and support team members to achieve full multi‑skilling, creating opportunities for up‑skilling and training.
- Undertake safety and food safety investigations as required.
- Manage performance of team members, addressing improvement areas and undertaking performance reviews in line with the annual performance cycle (P@M).
- Ensure optimum staffing levels through proactive management of holidays and other absences.
- Work with Team Leaders and Shift Managers to ensure operatives are flexible and utilised across the department.
- Manage day‑to‑day issues related to the team, including absence, disciplinary matters and grievances in line with Company policy.
- Undertake project work at area, site, department or regional level, ensuring delivery to agreed standards and timescales.
- Ensure SOPs and SWMs are in place, that all colleagues are working to them and optimise working practices as required.
- Ensure daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed in line with 5S, Health, Food Safety and Environmental standards.
