About The Role
Whilst working as part of a team within the Receiving department, the Technical Operative is responsible for ensuring potato intake operates effectively and that a continuous supply of potatoes meets the planned schedule to quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Technical aspects of the department – blending processes, bin management, achieving production requirements for the peeler
- Making technical adjustments as required for efficient running, calibrating, fault finding and rectifying as required
- Continually monitor and carry out tests to determine if area quality is being achieved, taking preventative or corrective action when appropriate and informing all applicable parties.
- Input traceability production run data into computer system
- Contribute to risk assessments, audits, and the development and improvement of quality controls
- Yard management including receiving loads, carrying out checks, driver management and maintaining cleanliness standards
- Routine sampling of raw material, checking potato passport, recording of data and liaising with production and the Receiving Front Line Manager on specification achievements
- Actioning and maintaining rejection data
- Operation of wet and dry bins to ensure equipment operates efficiently
- Set up of Celox and scout camera SKU dependant
- Waste management of the receiving area
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be someone with experience of working in a Receiving/Intake role within a food manufacturing environment, with great communication skills and attention to detail.

Hours
The shift pattern is 2 days 7am‑7pm, 1 day off, 2 nights 7pm‑7am followed by 3 days off.
Location
You\'ll be based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough. With about 350 employees on site, we’re one of our largest plants across the GB business.
