About The Role
Whilst working as part of a team within the Chilled department, the Technical Operator is responsible for driving performance, operating packing and weighing machines to Company standards of hygiene, quality and safety.
Key tasks of the role include, but are not limited to:
- To assist in the operational training of team members within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure the daily plan is communicated to all team members and acted upon.
- Ensure that any shortage of materials is reported promptly to prevent any impact to achieving daily targets also ensuring that stock levels are maintained through the correct SAP transactions and reporting processes.
- To be knowledgeable on the weighers to ensure correct operation ensuring efficient operation of weighers to set standards, informing the maintenance technician of any problems.
- Ensures correct set up on the production lines, maintaining standard settings, line efficiency targets and loading the correct materials to the line, according to production requirements.
- Changes date codes on bags and cases as required, checking position and clarity and rectifying any faults to suit production requirements.
- Checks and sets up taper units and case coders to meet production requirements ensuring case coders are correctly programmed and codes are legible.
- Carry out maintenance and service inspections of all machinery, rectifying minor faults and liaising with department maintenance technician to ensure maximum performance and availability is achieved.
- Ensures regular checks of Metal detector and X-Ray using test pieces to ensure correct operation and report faults to QA and Chilled manager, filling in required company documentation.
- Continuously monitors for faulty seals and cartons, completing seal and carton checks and where applicable to take corrective action if needed and service sealing mechanisms at stated times with production programme.
- Changes date codes on bags and cases as required, checking position and clarity and rectifying any faults to suit production requirements
- Ensure that all wastage including giveaways is kept on or below target on all lines making adjustments as necessary.

WHAT HOURS WILL I WORK?
The shift pattern is 5 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 5 days off, 7am – 7pm.
WHERE YOU’LL WORK?
You\’ll be based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough. If you’ve spotted our three wind turbines, then you’ll know where we are! With about 350 employees on site, we’re one of our largest plants across the GB business. Our Whittlesey plant is where we make our famous French Fries as well as our chilled products, such as our Shake Shake Fries.
