Responsibilities
With automation on the rise, Manufacturing Technicians oversee plant assets to keep the plant running with minimal breakdowns. This role is a hybrid between Engineering and Operations, working with both teams to ensure efficient running of assets and optimum plant efficiency to deliver quality and quantity. Focus areas include prevention, continuous improvement and reliability, understanding how machines run, and contributing to faster and better ways of working. You may participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities related to Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Oversee plant assets and respond quickly to issues to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to maintain efficient plant performance
- Record machine efficiencies relating to Quality, Delivery and Cost
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities
- Maintain awareness of health and safety and hygiene requirements
What We’re Looking For / Qualifications
We’re seeking Multi-Skilled Engineers with strong electrical and mechanical skills who can collaborate and inspire teams. The candidate should:
- Be a qualified Engineer with related experience
- Collaborate and inspire teams to maintain smooth operation
- Have a strong health and safety focus and understand hygiene requirements
- Record machine efficiencies and solve problems as they arise
The following qualifications (or equivalent) are relevant:
- NVQ 3 / BTEC 3 in related Engineering discipline (mandatory one)
- Time served apprenticeship – desirable
- HNC or equivalent – desirable
- Knowledge of SCADA or similar systems and PLC knowledge
- Experience in fault finding
- Ability to lead continuous improvement activity
- Ability to work under pressure and at speed
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
- IOSH/NEBOSH certificate – desirable
Shift Pattern
Rotational days and nights in Scarborough: 2 days on, 1 day off, 2 nights on, 3 days off.
