We’re looking for an Environmental Specialist to play a key role in ensuring our sites run responsibly, stay compliant, and continue to push forward our ambitious sustainability goals.
This isn’t just about maintaining standards - it’s about creating real, measurable impact. You’ll help us reduce waste, cut energy and water use, and embed environmental best practice across our plants. By working closely with leaders, SHE representatives and operational teams, you’ll inspire and support others to take ownership of environmental performance.
This is a 12 month FTC
What you’ll do
- Ensure legal and corporate compliance, maintaining Environmental Management Systems and keeping us aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards.
- Lead audits, inspections and investigations, making sure findings are actioned and improvements embedded.
- Drive sustainability initiatives focused on reducing waste, energy and water use, aligned with McCain’s global goals.
- Coach and guide leaders and colleagues so environmental responsibility becomes part of daily operations.
- Develop clear reporting and KPIs, giving the business insight into performance and future opportunities.
- Provide expert environmental input into new equipment, process changes and site expansion projects.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, auditors, waste providers and community stakeholders.

What we’re looking for
- A background in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability or similar.
- NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent qualification is a plus.
- Solid experience with environmental management systems in FMCG, manufacturing or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and compliance frameworks.
- Analytical and data-savvy, with the ability to turn insights into action.
- Confident communicator and influencer, able to work across functions and levels.
Location
You will be based either from Scarborough or Whittlesey and will also cover our other plants; Hull and Wombourne occasionally too.
