Responsibilities

Inspire, lead, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, driving engagement and unlocking potential to consistently exceed performance targets across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environment, and People. Take charge as the on-site Senior Leader during out-of-hours operations—making critical decisions and owning outcomes to ensure safe, efficient, and successful manufacturing performance.

  • Deliver performance, translating plant goals into individual/team performance and development plans, creating a culture of feedback, learning, growth and inclusivity.
  • Implement a development and succession plan for key talent and actively create opportunities for people to learn, grow and succeed within the team whilst creating flexibility and a strong support network.
  • Apply policies consistently and fairly using judgment, and proactively work to prevent the need for escalation.
  • Carry out managerial duties, responsibilities and accountabilities within the Company Health & Safety and Food Safety policies and other legislative requirements and audit practices, ensuring competence and compliance of self and those within span of authority.
  • Pro-actively manage production performance by leveraging best Operating Practices (BOP) and implementing appropriate actions in a timely manner to address potential deviations.
  • Lead on collaborative decision making to meet operational efficiency (OEE) and generate associated actions across manufacturing and Engineering as appropriate.
  • Optimize production and minimize costs by leveraging knowledge of equipment and controls, taking corrective action where required.

Accountabilities

Accountabilities: Foster a collaborative, customer-focused team culture that reflects McCain\’s values while driving continuous improvement through lean tools and principles—enabling efficient, timely, and cost-effective results in a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 5, with A-Levels, HNC, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experienced Operational or Senior Shift Manager with a strong leadership background
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver measurable results in high-pressure environments
  • Proven expertise in food manufacturing within the fast-paced FMCG sector
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, with hands-on experience driving Daily Improvement initiatives
  • Holds a degree in a relevant discipline, combining academic knowledge with practical industry insight

Confident and independent thinker with strong self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Collaborative, persuasive, and adaptable, with a conscientious approach to work. Analytically minded with a natural aptitude for interpreting data and insights.

Location

You\’ll be based at our Scarborough plant in North Yorkshire. We opened this plant back in the swinging sixties, but it\’s definitely not stuck in the past. It\’s one of the largest French fry factories in the world and after a recent development, it\’s also one of the most high tech. Our team of over 300 colleagues work hard to make sure the quality of our products keep our customers returning for more, for now and years to come!
