We are looking for a self-motivated Trainer to join our wider regional Capability Team. This role will lead mandatory training, inductions, annual refresher training and other compliance training at Whittlesey, while supporting standard work development and self-paced learning. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building capability, working with operational teams, and helping colleagues learn in a consistent and practical way. Occasional travel may be required to support other plants, with expenses covered by McCain.

What you'll be doing.

  • Partner with plant management to ensure training accountabilities, compliance requirements, and learning standards are met.
  • Deliver plant onboarding, annual refresher, Safety Transformation, and other compliance training, involving subject matter experts where needed.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop, align, and continuously improve training materials, courses, methods, and delivery standards across the region.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness against learning objectives and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support audits by providing accurate training system information, records, and documentation.
  • Support Manufacturing leaders with standard work methods and SOP development, verification, version control, and standard work matrix management.
  • Build the capability of team leaders, area operations leaders, and technical specialists to deliver effective training.
  • Identify training needs and skills gaps with managers, and support employees with self-paced and online learning.
  • Contribute to training and production projects, providing findings and recommendations within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain technical expertise in training topics and continue developing personal training capability in line with business needs.
  • Support other sites where required to meet business priorities.

You will be required to travel to our sites across the UK - with occasional overnight stay.

What you'll need to be successful.

Essential:

  • A technical training qualification
  • A recognised training qualification or certified trainer status
  • Familiarity with Standard Work Methods (SWMs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Facilitation and training design experience and strong computer skills
  • Experience of relevant Production Processes
  • Ability to evaluate training outcomes
  • Ability to prioritise and manage your own workload
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing best practice
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety best practice

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Safety Management qualification
  • Food Safety Management qualification

About the team.

You'll call our Wombourne plant in Staffordshire home. Here, our close-knit team of over 110 colleagues proudly brings our famous potato Smiles and pre-baked Jacket Spuds to life.

Reporting to our Capability Lead, you'll join forces with Trainers around the UK to deliver engaging training and help our colleagues develop their skills.
