Head of Development – Financial Services (London)
About the Company
We are partnering with a leading Financial Services client in London, searching for a dynamic Head of Development to lead geographically dispersed development teams. This strategic role is ideal for a technology leader who excels at bridging business and technology, delivering impactful solutions, and fostering collaboration in an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Onshore & Offshore Team Leadership: Manage, inspire, and coordinate development and test teams across multiple locations, fostering a culture of inclusion, high performance, and alignment with organisational values.
- Business & Technology Partnership: Serve as a critical link between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring solutions are strategically aligned and deliver tangible business value.
- People Management: Set clear objectives, mentor team members, and support their professional growth and career development.
- Partner Management: Oversee relationships with outsourced vendors and resource partners, driving innovation, cost efficiency, and seamless integration with internal teams.
- Portfolio Delivery: Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to plan, prioritise, and deliver solutions, managing interdependencies effectively.
- Development Practices: Implement best-practice delivery approaches (Agile or Waterfall) and ensure compliance with IT policies and standards.
- Solution Design: Guide the specification and architecture of applications, leveraging both internal and external expertise.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive adoption of new tools, technologies, and processes to enhance team effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Developer Background: Demonstrated progression from hands-on software developer to engineering management, with deep technical expertise and the ability to mentor and set technical standards.
- Onshore/Offshore Team Management: Proven experience leading and integrating geographically dispersed teams, including permanent, contract, and outsourced staff.
- Business & Technology Collaboration: Strong ability to work with business stakeholders to identify needs and deliver technology-driven solutions that add measurable value.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of application architectures and the Azure Full Stack (including Power Platform), as well as experience in cloud-native environments and Agile/DevOps practices.
- Cultural Leadership: Track record of evolving team culture in line with organisational transformation.
- Agile methodology certifications.
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience in Fintech, Asset Management, or Financial Services.
