Rate: £1100 per day (inside IR35)

Duration: Contract: 12 weeks - hybrid

Location: London City

We are seeking a senior Director of Solution Architecture to lead a deep assessment and stabilisation of a complex enterprise platform. The role focuses on diagnosing structural, architectural, and delivery challenges and defining a clear, practical roadmap to improve quality, stability, and scalability.

This is a senior hands-on role requiring the ability to quickly understand complex systems, identify root causes of instability, and provide clear, actionable recommendations that can be implemented by engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical due diligence and architecture recovery assessments across a complex enterprise platform
  • Identify root causes of quality and stability issues impacting production systems
  • Assess current-state architecture across services, platforms, and integrations
  • Identify structural weaknesses such as fragmentation, tight coupling, and poor modularity
  • Evaluate system design, integration patterns, and dependencies across the platform
  • Assess testing strategy, including end-to-end and regression coverage
  • Analyse defect management processes and identify why issues are reaching production
  • Produce clear findings, including current-state assessment and target-state recommendations

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as a Senior Solution Architect or Architecture Director in enterprise environments
  • Strong background in technical due diligence, architecture assessment, or recovery programmes
  • Experience working with complex, distributed systems and integration-heavy architectures
  • Strong understanding of release management, testing strategies, and delivery governance
  • Experience improving platform stability, scalability, and engineering maturity
  • Experience of dealing with offshore engineers
  • Experience in Payroll and HR platforms are essential
  • Strong experience in financial services environments
