Marylebone Cricket Club (the Club) is the world’s most active cricket club, custodian of the laws of cricket and is also the owner of Lord’s Ground, affectionately known as the “Home of Cricket”. The MCC and Lord’s brands are renowned worldwide and are synonymous with excellence, prestige and providing an enjoyable customer experience, whether at an international cricket match with 31,000 spectators, or for Sunday Afternoon Tea in the Long Room.

About the Role

Working as part of a world-class stewarding team, you will play a vital role in the three pillars of event operations: safety, security, and service. Pitch Team stewards are required to prevent incursions onto the field of play. This is a specialist role that will require each steward to work closely as a team, to provide a visual and physical deterrence in line with the standards required by the Club. Where necessary, to quickly respond and make a proportionate intervention to prevent an incursion by anyone not authorised to be on the pitch. Those on the team will be required to spend extended periods deployed on the pitch. Attendance at team training will be required when necessary. Additionally, you may be required to support the Event Support stewards to deal with conflict, disorder and any breaches of the Club’s ground regulations as authorised by the Control Room. This is to ensure the smooth operation of the cricket ground and the safety of all those who enter the “Home of Cricket”. You will act in line with the club’s own standards and values: excellence, teamwork and integrity.

Requirements

The demands of the cricket season mean extended hours of up to 12hrs for Test Matches and One Day International matches. Other matches may consist of 6-8hrs per match day. This will include mid-week and weekends match dates, candidates will need to be able to demonstrate personal resilience to manage this and still deliver their best work. The ideal candidates will show strong customer focus, have prior experience working within a response team and have the ability to work under pressure; prior experience working on a pitch team is not necessary but would be advantageous. This is a role that requires the candidate to be able to quickly respond and physically intervene when necessary. Each candidate will need a level of fitness and mobility that allows them to achieve this. Must hold a current SIA License with at least 3yrs experience and relevant professional experience in conflict management. Skills and ability assessment will form part of the selection process, you will be taught all you need to know to complete the skills and ability assessment.
