McBurney Transport wish to appoint Transport Planners based in their Ballymena Office. Due to continued growth, we are looking for additional UK planners, local (Ireland) planners, and a nightshift planner.
The successful candidate will be required to plan the daily operations of vehicles across the UK and Ireland whilst liaising with drivers, sub-contractors, and customers to ensure a high level of customer service is always maintained.
The candidate will be expected to manage a large and diverse range of customers across a broad spectrum of industry within a busy transport environment; therefore, previous experience working in a transport environment is essential. This includes:
- A sound knowledge of drivers' hours regulations (GV262)
- A competent geographical knowledge of the UK and Ireland
- A general understanding of the operations of a road haulage company
A level 3 certificate of professional competence is a distinct advantage; however, it is not essential. Other desirable criteria/experiences include:
- Experience with fresh, frozen, and ambient goods movements including just-in-time deliveries
- Good understanding of drivers' hours and general compliance within the transport industry
- Significant experience using telematic and transport software systems
- Able to manage own time to achieve daily targets, in turn meeting customer requirements daily
- Ability to work under ever-changing circumstances on a day-to-day basis, including making decisions under pressure
- Customer focused with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to communicate at all levels within the business, internally between day and nightshift, clear instruction to drivers, and directly with customers
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Understanding of customs processes would be beneficial
This is a demanding role, and the candidate must be prepared to work on a flexible rota currently comprising weekdays, weekends, and inclusive of some Bank Holidays.
