Key Purpose:
To effectively manage, support and develop a team in order to optimise efficiency, quality, health and safety, pallets per hour and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage, motivate and develop assigned staff.
- Ensure correct manning levels for assigned customer orders and inbound deliveries.
- Through management of Warehouse Operatives ensure corrective actions from audits are made and maintained.
- Maintain departmental hygiene standards at all times.
- Monitor compliance to all Company policies, procedures and Safe Working Practices.
- Carry out HR related procedures, e.g. appraisals.
- Check all inbound deliveries for any quality issues.
- Replace and report to the site quality department any issues with outbound deliveries (leaking product/damaged boxes etc).
- Work with all departments to achieve and maintain customer accreditation and BRC standards.
- Assist with investigations into quality failure as required.
- Plan, load and despatch all customer orders.
- Prepare for and conduct shift handovers with other Senior Operators.
- Ensure accurate data is input to the system to allow accurate management information on the agreed KPI’s to be obtained.
- Adhere to housekeeping, 5S, Lean and HSE standards to maintain green audit status with external customers.
- Issue General Safety Notices as appropriate.
- Ensure any issues with trucks are reported for repair as soon as possible and logged on the MHE repair log.
- Review and identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions through use of McBride problem solving techniques.
- Ensure agreed HSE KPI’s are delivered.
- Ensure that routine safety inspections are correctly carried out.
- Report, record and support investigation of near misses and accident/incidents.
- Ensure adherence to PPE and HSE policies and procedures (duty of care).
- Contribute to the delivery of agreed KPI’s (Pallets per hour, internal and external customer service, Operational excellence).
Key Result Areas:
- Accident rate and root cause analysis.
- Support with accident investigations.
- Ensure department hygiene standards are maintained daily and improved as required.
- Record all inbound and outbound vehicle details that arrive on site.
- Complete trailer check sheets for outbound vehicles to check for condition and cleanliness.
- Ensure accurate receipt and labelling of all inbound deliveries.
- Ensure all customer orders are picked and despatched in line with the loading schedule.
- Promote a culture of involvement and interest in individual ideas through listening, briefing and appraisals.
- Assist in improving employee opinion survey results.
Relevant and Quantifiable Measures:
- Responsible for all inbound deliveries into the warehouse.
- Responsible for all outbound/customer loads in line with the collection schedule.
- Responsible for safe vehicle movement in the yard, including the safe reversing of vehicles onto loading bays.
- Responsible for carrying out trailer checks on all vehicles that attend site.
- Responsible for collecting samples for QA and sales.
- Responsible for the picking of customer orders.
- Responsible for replacing any damaged or leaking products before going out to the customer.
- Responsible for searching for and reporting back of any missing pallets.
- Responsible for blocking any pallets that cannot be sent out due to quality reasons.
- Responsible for completing the shift handover report in the absence of the team manager.
- Responsible for updating 3rd party logistics provider on pallets to collect in the absence of team manager.
- Ensure PI counts are completed for each quarterly cycle.
- Responsible for data capture and recording.
- Daily management of small operating teams – up to 15 people.
