Our client is seeking an exceptional leader to take the helm of a renowned sports and events venue in the West Midlands. With a packed calendar of sporting fixtures and a thriving year-round events business, this is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a flagship destination in the UK’s leisure and hospitality landscape.

About the Venue:

This premium sports venue hosts 25 high-profile fixtures annually, including one of the region’s most iconic events. It is also home to a wide range of non-sports events, including:

  • Corporate hospitality and conferences
  • Live music events and festivals
  • Seasonal public events such as fireworks nights and family fun days
  • Weddings and private functions
  • An on-site caravan and motorhome park

The Role:

As General Manager, you’ll report to the Regional Director and lead a team of experienced senior managers across operations, finance, catering, customer service, and events. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Driving commercial performance across all aspects of the venue
  • Leading the planning and delivery of major events
  • Building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships at executive level – locally and across the wider industry
  • Identifying and capitalising on growth and investment opportunities
  • Ensuring excellence in customer experience and operational delivery

What We’re Looking For:

  • A proven leader with at least 5 years' senior venue or event management experience
  • Strong commercial acumen and a track record in delivering large-scale public events
  • Experience in estate/land management and optimisation of outdoor space
  • A collaborative relationship-builder who can represent the venue with credibility and vision
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety practices and compliance
  • A willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by the events calendar
