Description
Due to continued growth, McBains are looking for a qualified senior quantity surveyor or senior cost manager to join our team.
Ideally, the candidate will have a minimum of 6+ years\’ experience, be self-motivated and confident in a client facing role managing multiple projects and clients within the residential, higher education and healthcare sectors.
Pre- and post-contract experience is required, as well as knowledge and experience of working with residential developers, local authorities, universities, and healthcare Trusts. Some UK travel may be required as part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day delivery of projectsPositively engaging with Clients and developing, growing and maintaining Client relationships.Developing the cost management strategy and deliveryEstablishing effective processes and systems to be utilised throughout the projectProducing cost plans, feasibilities and optioneeringManage tendering processes, including preparation of bills of quantities and contract documents.Collation and issue of cost reportsChange Management assessment, tracking and reportingManage Risk processes and Value ManagementWork with supply chain and implement effective procurementLiaising with the client, contractors, and designersManaging sub-consultants and Construction ManagersExperience of dispute resolution processes, including negotiation and preparation of claimsProvide guidance and mentoring to junior surveyors and commercial staff.

6+ years\’ experienceChartered status (MRICS)Excellent verbal, numerical and report/proposal writing skillsExcellent people skills and communicator, both with client teams and team basedCommercially astute with good negotiation skillsFlexible and can work to deadlinesAbility to successfully manage and prioritise multiple projects and different stages of deliveryBe conversant in large project delivery (up to £100m)JCT and NEC experienceExperience of working within a multi-disciplinary organisationAssisting in the development of new business opportunities with existing and new clients.Identifying and acting upon cross-selling opportunitiesMicrosoft office proficiencyExperience of delivering cost plans in CostX
