McBains has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Management professional to join our vibrant Manchester-based Project Management team. Ideally, the candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience, be self-motivated, and confident in a client-facing role managing multiple projects and clients within government, bluelight, and defence sectors. Extensive pre- and post-contract experience is required, as well as knowledge and experience of working with local authorities and healthcare Trusts. Some UK travel may be required as part of this role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor colleagues, work with graduates and trainees, and contribute to our established APC training programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day delivery of projects
- Engaging positively with clients and developing, growing, and maintaining client relationships
- Developing project management strategies and delivery plans
- Establishing effective processes and systems for project use
- Producing cost plans, feasibility studies, and option appraisals
- Assessing, tracking, and reporting on change management
- Managing risk processes and value management
- Working with supply chain and implementing procurement strategies
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and designers
- Managing sub-consultants and construction managers
- Attending and chairing meetings
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- 3+ years’ experience in project management
- Excellent verbal, numerical, and report/proposal writing skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with client teams and colleagues
- Commercially astute with good negotiation skills
- Flexible and able to work to deadlines
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at different stages of delivery
- Experience delivering large projects (up to £100m)
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
- Experience with BTR projects
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary organization
- Assist in developing new business opportunities with existing and new clients
- Identify and act upon cross-selling opportunities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
