We are looking for a reliable and organised Stores & Kitting Operative to join our team and support our production operations.
Job Summary: The Stores & Kitting Operative will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day operation of the stores function, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, control and issue of materials required to support production. The role is critical to maintaining stock accuracy, supporting manufacturing operations and ensuring components are available when required. The successful candidate will be responsible for booking in purchased goods, creating and issuing works orders, preparing kits for production, maintaining accurate stock records and supporting monthly stock control activities. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work closely with production, purchasing and administration teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect and accurately book in goods delivered by suppliers.
- Store purchased components and materials in designated locations within the stores area.
- Create manufacturing works orders in the company ERP system.
- Pick and kit components for production works orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Issue and return stock against works orders as required.
- Receive and store manufactured components and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate stock records and process all stock movements through the ERP system.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages, discrepancies or potential supply issues.
- Assist with maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensuring stock data accuracy.
- Support monthly stock takes and investigate stock variances where required.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and identification throughout the stores area.
- Liaise with purchasing, production and management teams to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives relating to stock control, stores organisation and production efficiency.
- Support packaging and dispatch activities when required.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, stock control, manufacturing or similar role is desirable.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to accurately record and process stock transactions.
- Comfortable working with numbers and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and manage day‑to‑day tasks without constant supervision.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with production, purchasing and administration staff.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Experience using stock control or ERP systems would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn and a practical approach to problem solving.
