Location: Battle, East Sussex, with regular travel to Southern Water operational areas
Reporting To: Senior Project Manager
The Project Manager will plan, manage and deliver daily operational activities and capital works associated with the Southern Water framework. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to quality and commercial targets, in line with both Southern Water expectations and McAllister Group / Vortex Companies standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Operational & Project Delivery
- Lead daily management and coordination of field teams delivering reactive and planned works across Southern Water regions.
- Ensure adherence to contract specifications, including permit and compliance frameworks.
- Plan and deliver capital projects related to Southern Water’s infrastructure renewal, asset maintenance, and sewer rehabilitation programmes.
- Monitor work progress against programme, budgets, and KPIs.
- Manage procurement of plant, subcontractors and materials specific to Southern Water requirements.
- Liaise daily with the Senior Project Manager and internal teams on workforce planning, asset utilisation and progress reporting.
- Act as first point of contact for client site representatives, ensuring timely communication and issue resolution.
- Ensure that RAMS and safety documentation are in place and regularly reviewed in line with McAllister HSQE procedures.
Commercial & Compliance
- Assist with pricing, resourcing, and planning of additional work packages within the framework.
- Collate site data and documentation for client reporting, valuation, invoicing, and audits.
- Identify operational risks and propose mitigation measures proactively.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health & safety, and client-specific policies and regulations.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead or support client progress meetings, presenting clear updates and actions.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Southern Water representatives, fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Communicate site instructions, priorities, and safety briefings to field operatives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience managing utilities or drainage contracts.
- Proven track record in capital works delivery and operational project management.
- Familiar with NEC or other utility contract mechanisms.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead and motivate site teams.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, project scheduling tools and digital reporting systems.
- Full UK driving licence required.
Education and Experience:
- Relevant degree in Project Management, Engineering or Utilities.
- Accreditation / Chartership or working towards an advantage.
