Location - Hemel Hempstead

Salary - GBP40,000 to GBP50,000 depending on experience

Hours - Monday to Friday, 40 hours

We are seeking to recruit a hands-on Buyer or Senior Buyer Manager (Pharmaceuticals) on behalf of our client. Our client is a major player in supplying pharmaceuticals to the UK and international markets. Reporting to the Directors, the role involves developing key purchasing business opportunities within the Pharmaceuticals sector. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sales team to ensure the company maintains an updated and competitive product range to meet customer needs. This is a full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with occasional travel to EU countries and within the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Align with business objectives set by the Board of Directors to achieve value for money.
  • Source pharmaceuticals competitively from suppliers, considering cost, drug tariff, category M, availability, and supply continuity.
  • Research and identify new suppliers, negotiate the best prices for existing products, and locate the cheapest sources across the UK.
  • Maintain a database of potential new products and keep records of sales and suppliers.
  • Analyze industry data and insights to identify trends.
  • Develop long-term strategies for product categories and exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to optimize sourcing opportunities within the UK and manage stock availability and profitability.
  • Negotiate and close new business deals aligned with targets and objectives.
  • Coordinate with the sales department to maintain stock turnover, minimize expired products, and manage excess stock.
  • Monitor stock levels, forecast future purchasing needs, and manage stock clearance activities.
  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm product availability and place purchase orders to ensure timely stock receipt.
