A well-established, internationally operating technical and professional services organisation is seeking a Project Accountant to join its Glasgow-based finance team on a 12-month fixed-term (maternity cover) contract. This role sits within a structured controlling / project accounting environment and will suit someone who enjoys working closely with project managers, maintaining strong financial control and supporting delivery across a portfolio of projects.
The Role
- Preparation of monthly P&L reporting for a project-led division
- Project accounting across multiple live projects, including WIP tracking and cost-at-completion reviews
- Monitoring project costs, revenue recognition and profitability
- Budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and commentary
- Monthly accruals and prepayments, including support for overseas entities
- Supporting month-end, year-end and audit processes
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and group reporting requirements
- Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
Requirements
- Experience in project accounting, management accounting or controlling
- Exposure to WIP, project costing or contract-based environments
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems (SAP desirable but not essential)
- Ability to work to tight deadlines within a structured reporting environment
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with non-finance stakeholders
- Part-qualified, fully qualified (CA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience
