MC Technical Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Shift Team Leader to join an industry-leading energy and resource recovery business at their state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Peterborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK's most forward-thinking organisations in the waste-to-energy sector.

As the Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the shift team and supervising day-to-day operations of the ERF, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant
  • Overseeing safe and efficient running of the facility to maximise throughput and power export
  • Acting as Senior Authorised Person (SAP), managing the Safe System of Work and supervising contractors on site
  • Supporting continuous improvement of HSE standards and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and permits
  • Leading emergency drills and initiating investigations into incidents with objectivity and professionalism
  • Building strong working relationships with internal teams and external contractors

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • Proven supervisory or management experience in a technical or operational role
  • Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or equivalent)
  • Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
  • Strong process knowledge of systems such as HP steam, boilers, turbines, electrical generation, and emissions
  • Experience working with Safe Systems of Work including issuing permits and safety documentation
  • Excellent communication skills, including leading team briefings and shift handovers
  • Experience in the Power Generation, Process, or Navy Engineering sectors is highly advantageous
