MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting an Assistant Plant Operator to join an energy from waste power station in Somerset. As the Assistant Plant Operator, you will be responsible for carrying out operational activities within the boiler house and turbine hall to ensure the plant operates in a safe and efficient manner.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Performing plant walk-arounds and inspections, ensuring optimum performance of plant machinery
  • Carrying out first line maintenance activities to ensure minimal plant breakdowns
  • Operating a range of mobile plant including FLTs, excavators and overhead cranes
  • Supervising the delivery of site consumables e.g. lime, carbon, ammonia etc
  • Assisting with plant shutdowns

This is a role that will involve working a 12-hour shifts covering days, nights as well as some weekends.

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • Production/operations or maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment, preferably within the power generation or EFW sector or similar e.g. anaerobic digestion, waste or water treatment. Marine Engineers at LET level would also suit
  • Ideally a relevant engineering qualification – BTEC, NVQ, ONC etc
  • Mobile plant tickets/experience desirable but not essential
  • Some basic mechanical or electrical maintenance skills would be desirable but not essential
  • A good understanding and awareness of H&S
  • Willingness to work on a 12-hour shift pattern that includes both days and nights
