We are currently looking for a Senior Analyst to join one of the group’s specialist divisions, World Services. Partnering with governments, civil society, foundations, academia, and the private sector, we work on the critical issues of our time, including national security, social justice and conflict prevention.
What you'll do:
- Monitoring and analysing the politics, media, and information environments of Eastern Europe, acting as an in-house source on that region’s politics, culture and information space. This includes utilising media monitoring and social listening tools to inform reporting.
- Utilising Structured Analytical Techniques and open-source data to produce evaluative and forward-looking assessments for project stakeholders.
- Producing timely, relevant analyses, briefings and strategic recommendations verbally and in writing for many levels of the agency.
- Providing insight to support the development of communications strategies and responding to ad hoc research requests.
- Developing an understanding of regional strategy and project objectives, informing and guiding them.
- Providing support to other project/regional/thematic-assigned analysts, as required.
- Conducting own desk-based research.
What you're good at:
- Fluency or business proficiency in Russian.
- Degree in War Studies, International Relations, Russian and Eastern European Studies, or a related subject with a regional/geopolitical focus.
- Interest in or previous experience working on Eastern Europe.
- Excellent analytical skills; in particular, familiarity with qualitative and quantitative social science data.
- Excellent writing and good presentation skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
What you'll bring:
- Experience using monitoring or social listening tools.
- Practical experience of working with qualitative and quantitative social science data.
- Practical experience of Structured Analytical Techniques and their application in open-source research and analysis.
- A plus if you have knowledge of the Python programming language.
