Commercial Finance Team

The Commercial Finance team exists to maximise the revenue and profitability of the division and the wider agency. Working with the client-facing Consulting teams to ensure that all aspects of client finance run smoothly.

The Role

The Commercial Finance Analyst undertakes commercial reporting, ensuring that management gets timely and accurate information to guide business decisions.

About You

This role would suit someone who is newly qualified or part-qualified in accountancy or finance. You will be telling a story through numbers, so should be strong at data manipulation and analysis. You should be proficient in the use of MS Excel. Power BI skill is a plus.

You must be keen to learn what insights can be drawn from commercial data and be able to apply this knowledge to articulate findings to management.

The role requires a lot of collaboration and the ability to source information from multiple stakeholders of varying seniority. It would therefore suit someone who is outgoing, with good communication skills, and able to provide clear instructions in a succinct manner.

Specifics of the Role

The exact day-to-day tasks will vary, but may include:

1. Management Information
   1. Production and maintenance of Consulting management reporting information to:
   2. Forecast and track revenue
   3. Understand staff billable utilisation
   4. Analyse profitability of projects, workstreams, and engagements with different clients
   5. Forecast staff capacity and assist with resourcing
   6. Provide variance commentaries based on divisional performance versus forecast
2. Commercial Business Partnering
   1. Be a business partner to the leaders of the UK-based entities of M&C Saatchi Consulting assisting in production and review of their P&Ls
   2. Develop financial plans, budgets, and forecasts based on key business drivers
   3. Support teams in pitch or pricing proposals
3. Client Financial Management
   1. Work with the client-facing team and finance support hub to ensure appropriate financial processes are followed (e.g., client and supplier onboarding, invoicing, WIP management)
   2. Work with finance support hub to ensure revenue is recognised in line with group policy, including obtaining proper supporting documentation
   3. Be escalation point for issues or concerns
4. Group Reporting
   1. Assist division financial controller and finance support hub in production of month-end, quarterly, and annual accounts and associated commentary on key variances versus forecast
5. Other
   1. Support during internal and external audits (queries on revenue)
   2. Assist with group compliance tasks
