Minorities Recognition Awards NI is seeking a Marketing and PR Assistant to support our social media and communications efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our social media presence, creating engaging content, and fostering community engagement and networking in the lead-up to the awards ceremony. They will also be responsible for communication with potential sponsors and media outlets.
Responsibilities
- Creating Engaging Content: Develop creative text, image, and video content for all social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok).
- Community and Sponsor Engagement: Communicate with potential sponsors, encourage nominations and winners to gather stories and information. Monitor social media activities of minority groups and individuals, sharing relevant content across our platforms and via mailshots to foster a sense of community and collaboration.
- Promoting the Networking and Awards: Engage with the community online to increase visibility of the awards, promote nominated individuals and businesses, and drive ticket sales.
- PR Support: Assist with press release distribution, media monitoring and building relationships with partners.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for creating content, engaging with the community, sponsors and assisting with media relations.
- Knowledge of social media platforms, including content creation and community engagement, as this is a core part of the role.
- Competency with basic IT tools, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with graphic design (e.g., using platforms like Canva).
- Familiarity with website content management systems.
- Previous experience (even if informal, voluntary, or through coursework/personal projects) in a marketing, communications, or public relations role.
