Are you a backend engineer who thrives on building real products and getting things shipped? Have you taken ideas from zero to something users actually rely on? Do you enjoy working close to the product, owning systems end to end, and solving practical problems fast? If that sounds like you, this could be the right move.
We’re an early-stage startup backed by one of Europe’s most successful fellowships. We’re well funded, profitable, and building at pace.
Launched in 2023, we’ve already built a fully working voice based AI system that helps train sales teams in real time with a personalised approach. With just the two founders and one engineer, we’ve onboarded global clients and reached six figure revenue. Having recently closed our first funding round, we’re now looking for a Founding Backend ML Engineer to join the team and shape what comes next.
What we’re looking for:
- This is a hands on, implementation focused engineering role. While AI is part of the product, the core need right now is strong backend ownership, with some frontend exposure.
- Early stage startup experience, ideally 0 to 1.
- Strong backend engineering background, building and shipping production systems.
- Experience with Python in production environments.
- Comfortable working across APIs, databases, and application logic.
- Experience with CI/CD, deployment and day to day production reliability.
- Familiar with Docker and modern cloud environments (Azure preferred, but not essential).
- Experience working with databases such as MongoDB or Postgres.
- Frontend experience using a modern framework such as React (Redux), Angular, or similar.
- Some exposure to LLM based systems is a plus, but not essential.
We’re less concerned with deep research backgrounds or heavy scaling work, and more interested in engineers who get things done, build pragmatically, and take ownership. You should enjoy working across the stack, collaborating closely with founders, and improving the product week by week.
Beyond technical skills, we’re looking for genuine early stage energy. Someone practical, curious, and comfortable rolling their sleeves up when needed. You’ll need a builder’s mindset, good judgement, and a bias towards action.
What you’ll get:
- Base salary up to £110k.
- Negotiable equity.
- Fully remote, work from anywhere (HQ in Germany).
- 31 days holiday.
- Dedicated learning budget.
