Data is treated as a strategic asset. You’ll act as the UK Data Design Authority, owning the logical data landscape, driving data quality, and ensuring the coherence of the Microsoft data environment (Fabric & Purview) with real business needs. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and IT, enabling effective use of data domains, embedding governance frameworks, and championing data as a core driver of value.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Acting as Data Design Authority for data strategy and logical data models
- Curating and maintaining the Data Body of Knowledge (glossary, definitions, business rules)
- Owning and governing master, reference, and metadata
- Designing and embedding a robust Data Quality framework and certification processes
- Driving root cause analysis, lineage, and remediation of data issues
- Acting as the gateway between business and IT for all data-impacting initiatives
- Ensuring appropriate guardrails for access to business and financial data
- Maintaining and evolving data domains in line with business needs
- Assessing and introducing new data sources and techniques (including GenAI use cases)
What we’re looking for:
- Extensive experience in complex data environments
- Strong understanding of metadata, master and reference data
- Deep insurance sector knowledge
- Proven experience in data model management
- Hands-on experience with Data Quality rules and frameworks
- Strong SQL capability
- Experience running continuous improvement cycles or managing a data stewardship community
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Are a self-starter with a passion for Data Management
- Are a natural problem-solver
- Communicate clearly and confidently at all levels
- Genuinely believe data is a strategic business asset
- Can bridge big-picture strategy with operational detail
- Enjoy working in matrixed, collaborative environments
This is a rare opportunity to shape a mature, enterprise-wide data capability in a business where data truly matters.
