Introduction

MBM Veterinary Group is pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our welcoming and experienced small animal team on a full‑time or part‑time basis. We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and motivated nurse who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. In return, we provide a supportive working environment, opportunities for career development, and a genuine commitment to promoting work‑life balance.

About MBM Vets

MBM Veterinary Group is a long‑established, independently run practice based in the beautiful region of Ayrshire, close to the coast and within easy reach of Glasgow and central Scotland by road and rail.

Our team works across three branches located in Kilmarnock, Mauchline, and Beith, offering a wide range of veterinary services across the small animal, farm, and equine sectors. The area is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with plenty of opportunities for equestrian sports, cycling, golf, hillwalking, and water sports.

Facilities and Services

Our facilities are modern and well‑equipped to provide excellent patient care. We offer digital and dental radiography, multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, ultrasound with colour Doppler, endoscopy, ECG, and electrocautery. We also maintain a fully functional in‑house laboratory capable of carrying out a wide range of diagnostic tests. This includes FNA cytology, full haematology and biochemistry, and point‑of‑care testing for cortisol, CRP, fructosamine, and progesterone using Idexx Catalyst. Our in‑house urinalysis includes dipstick testing, specific gravity, microscopy, and urine protein:creatinine ratio. A dedicated lab nurse is scheduled daily to support efficient diagnostic workflows and timely case management.

We are proud to be a host practice for VetsNow out‑of‑hours services, allowing us to keep hospitalised patients on‑site overnight, without the need to transfer animals during recovery or critical care situations.

Team and Culture

You will be joining a close‑knit and supportive small animal team comprised of 20 full and part‑time veterinary surgeons, including a cardiology certificate holder and two vets currently working towards certificates in surgery and internal medicine. Our nursing team includes 16 full and part‑time RVNs, supported by four animal nursing assistants and eight reception staff. We are proud of the high standard of care we deliver and the broad range of medical and surgical services we can offer in‑house, while maintaining strong partnerships with referral centres for more complex cases.

The culture at MBM Vets is centred around respect, collaboration, and clinical excellence. We place a strong emphasis on professional development, supporting our team members in pursuing areas of interest and additional qualifications. We are seeking a confident and competent RVN who will thrive in our positive team environment and continue to uphold the high standards of care we are known for.

About the Role

You will be involved in all aspects of small animal nursing, including consultations, surgical support, inpatient care, emergency triage, and reception duties. We are particularly interested in candidates who are confident in running nurse‑led clinics and can contribute to our client education and preventative health services.

Client communication is central to our approach, and we expect our nurses to maintain clear, compassionate, and professional dialogue with pet owners throughout their animals’ care. Nurses at MBM are also encouraged to take ownership of their continued professional development in line with RCVS guidelines, with full support from the practice to pursue CPD in areas of clinical interest.

You will be expected to maintain a smart and professional appearance and represent the practice with integrity and a commitment to excellent service.

Why Join MBM Vets?

This is a unique opportunity to join a well‑respected, forward‑thinking veterinary group with a rich heritage and a modern outlook. We offer a varied and interesting caseload, a welcoming and experienced team, and a commitment to supporting your growth as a veterinary nurse. With excellent facilities, a collaborative work culture, and a vibrant local area to enjoy outside of work, this role is perfect for an RVN looking to thrive in a fulfilling and well‑balanced career.
