If you\’re a strategic thinker with strong communication and leadership skills, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Your leadership will ensure these valued volunteers are fully equipped, motivated, and aligned with our mission to deliver unforgettable experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and deliver briefings, debriefings, and ongoing communication to ensure volunteer readiness.
  • Monitor volunteer feedback and coordinate with other departments to resolve issues and improve experiences.
  • Manage and develop a small internal team, setting clear goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Represent the Leaders Department on the Senior Management Team.
  • Serve on the Crisis & Incident Management Team and Duty Officer Team as needed.

Training & Development

  • Oversee and continuously improve our Leader Training Programme to ensure all volunteers are properly qualified.
  • Support ongoing professional development through regular engagement and access to best-in-class resources.

Tour Allocation

  • Match leaders to tours based on their experience, availability, and preferences.
  • Manage the appointment process and ensure clear communication of responsibilities.

Engagement & Communication

  • Foster community through events such as UK-based social walks.
  • Ensure all communication channels (newsletters, volunteer site, social platforms) are used effectively to keep leaders informed and engaged.

Department Operations

  • Provide operational support and act as a point of contact for leader-related tour issues.
  • Maintain leader documentation and ensure resources such as digital maps and kits are current and accessible.
  • Oversee the organisation of the Leaders Conference (held every 3–4 years) and manage kit inventory.

Tour Leader Recruitment Manager Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Experience in walking or outdoor travel is desirable, but not essential.

This is more than a management role – it\’s a chance to lead a community that helps create long lasting memories for travellers across the UK and beyond.
