The Safeguarding & Care Planning Service (East & West) works with children & families following transfer from the Referral & Assessment Service, which occurs if a child/young person is made subject to a Child in Need or Child Protection Plan. Children in Need qualify if they meet through assessment Tier 2.5-3 on the Bromley Safeguarding Continuum of Need and Intervention.

The service has a specialist Court Team, but at times East and West practitioners will also hold care proceeding cases and work with children & families where the PLO framework has been initiated. All decisions to initiate care proceedings or PLO are made through a weekly Legal Gateway meeting chaired by a Safeguarding Head of Service.

We are considered Good with Outstanding leadership by Ofsted and are on a journey of Getting to Excellence. Our ambition is to ensure we provide Outstanding services to children and their families at all times. We pride ourselves on high support and high challenge in practice.
